Kayla Hatting
Director of Softball
Kayla Hatting is the Director of Softball for MASH, where she leads the program’s culture, development systems, and long-term vision for athlete growth. A proven program-builder with a championship pedigree, Kayla brings a leadership style rooted in accountability, relationships, and sustained success. Her focus extends beyond on-field performance, emphasizing the development of people first and athletes second.
As well as being our Director of Softball at MASH, Kayla serves as the Head Softball Coach at St. Olaf College. During her tenure, she has led the program to sustained success, including the 2021 MIAC Regular Season Championship, the program’s first NCAA Regional appearance since 1996, and an NCAA Regional Final appearance. Her leadership earned her MIAC Coach of the Year honors in 2021, and she guided the program to seven MIAC playoff appearances while establishing a consistent standard of excellence.
Under her leadership, St. Olaf produced numerous individual honors, including 29 All-MIAC selections, 13 NFCA All-Region selections, and multiple All-American and Player of the Year recognitions. Her ability to develop athletes and elevate program performance helped transform St. Olaf into one of the most competitive programs in the conference.
Kayla also brings extensive experience in club and organizational leadership through her work with the MN Sting and MN Bombers organizations. Since joining in 2017, she has held multiple roles including Head Coach, Hitting Director, Catching Director, Recruiting Director, Level Director, Coach Coordinator, and Board Secretary. Her work has helped shape player development pathways while strengthening organizational structure and long-term athlete success.
A hallmark of Kayla’s leadership is her commitment to athlete outcomes beyond the field. Across her coaching career, she has maintained a 100% graduation rate and 100% post-graduation placement rate within one year, while also demonstrating exceptional athlete retention and program stability.
As a former catcher at Luther College, Kayla competed at a high level, earning All-Region honors and contributing to multiple conference championships, regional titles, and NCAA Final Eight appearances. Her playing experience, combined with her coaching success, gives her a deep understanding of what it takes to develop and sustain excellence in softball.
Today, Kayla brings that experience to MASH Softball, where she is focused on building a program defined by culture, development, and long-term success. Her vision is centered on creating an environment where athletes are challenged, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential on and off the field.
