Preparing Student-Athletes for Life
MASH Academy
MASH Academy offers a one-of-a-kind environment where student-athletes don’t have to choose between academic success and athletic development — they can pursue both at a high level. We serve student-athletes in grades 3-12 with a structured daily schedule that combines online learning through a Minnesota Public school, professional athletic coaching, and strength and conditioning training at MASH Campus.
The MASH Student Experience?
INCREASED TRAINING TIME
MASH Academy gives student-athletes the opportunity to train while other students are still in the classroom. By integrating academics and athletic development into one schedule, students gain additional time to improve their skills, strength, and overall performance without sacrificing their education.
RIGOROUS EDUCATION MODEL
Students receive a high-quality, college-preparatory education through flexible online learning supported by a dedicated Learning Coach. This personalized model encourages independence, accountability, and academic excellence while allowing students to balance the demands of competitive athletics.
HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT
Success extends beyond the classroom and the field. MASH Academy develops confident, resilient young leaders by emphasizing character, leadership, teamwork, nutrition, recovery, and life skills, preparing students to excel in athletics, academics, and their future careers.

One of the key benefits of MASH Academy is its flexibility. Traditional schools are not always conducive to the lifestyle of student-athletes, so we offer an adaptable attendance policy:
• Students can work from home when needed due to travel, recovery, or competition.
• Coursework is completed virtually, and staff can provide at-home workout programs.
• While we encourage on-site attendance for the best experience, our system ensures that education and training continue uninterrupted.
• Training programs can be provided virtually for students that are missing extended periods of time.
Yes, we provide support for students with IEPs and 504 plans. To ensure we can meet each student’s needs, families must complete a determination meeting with our education partner before enrollment.
The school day runs from 8am – 3pm daily. We will have guest speakers occasionally from 3pm – 4pm. If student-athletes need to arrive early or stay later, we offer Before and After School care for an additional fee from 7:30am – 4pm.
Students will have access to technology and equipment supported through MNVA and EPO. However, most students will have a preferred computer that they can use. Families will receive a list of required materials upon enrollment. Enrolled families receive school materials as part of the tuition.
Minnesota Virtual Academy and EPO are fully accredited through the NCAA. All students that graduate through MNVA or EPO are NCAA eligible.
MASH Academy follows a Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD) model that focuses on building athleticism and sport skills progressively over time. Our approach emphasizes exposure to age-appropriate movements, skill development, and training experiences that help athletes excel in sports while developing a lifelong love of movement and physical activity.
Elementary School (Grades 3–5)
At the elementary level, the focus is on developing fundamental athletic skills in a fun and engaging environment. Students will work on:
• Fundamental movement patterns
• Balance, coordination, and stability
• Physical problem-solving skills
• Object control through a variety of games and sports
• Introductory technique in speed and plyometrics
The goal is to build confidence, movement literacy, and a positive relationship with physical activity.
Middle School (Grades 6–8)
As athletes grow, training becomes more structured while still encouraging exploration and multi-sport development. Students will focus on:
• Strength, speed, and plyometric technique development
• Increased training volume and skill refinement
• Dynamic movement challenges and athletic problem solving
• Continued exposure to multiple sports and activities
This stage bridges foundational skills with performance training.
High School (Grades 9–12)
High school athletes transition into more advanced and individualized training designed to support their specific sport goals. This includes:
• Sport-specific development
• Advanced strength and conditioning programming
• Individualized training plans based on sport, position, and performance goals
• Continued focus on injury prevention and long-term performance
MASH Academy provides sport-specific development in baseball, softball, soccer, and football through specialized training blocks focused on speed, movement patterns, position skills, and performance development. This training is designed to complement athletes’ club or school team participation.
MASH only allows two Athletics options:
• 5 days/week
• 3 fixed days/week (ex: M/W/F or T/Th + one fixed day)
The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) allows student-athletes attending MNVA or EPO online school to return to their resident high school to compete in high school athletics and activities. MASH Academy will not run high school teams. The goal is for students to stay integrated with their resident district sports organizations.
We offer several different enrollment options. Students can opt into education support, athletics, or both education and athletics. If students are opting into academics, we require enrollment throughout the entire school year – September through May. Students can opt into athletics for the year or on a quarterly basis.
